o Buckeye Hot Spring Report. August 2005. Lots of great photos. Buckeye Hot Spring is a natural spring located near the town of Bridgeport, California, on the north side of Buckeye Creek in the Toiyabe National Forest. This region is situated in a valley along the beautiful and scenic eastern Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. The easiest route to Buckeye is accessible by 2-wheel drive vehicles under normal road conditions. Part of the route is dirt road and is subject to washboard, mud, snow, and ice conditions, depending on the season and recent weather. From U.S. Hwy 395 in Bridgeport, take Twin Lakes Road for about 7.3 miles/11.7km, then turn right on Buckeye Road (FS017). Follow Buckeye Rd. for about 2.7mi/4.3km, where you’ll come to a bridge crossing the creek. Continue across, turning right at the fork in the main road and about .4mi/.6km to a parking area on the right... (click link to read the rest of the report.)
o Calfornia NetNude Gathering Report. 2005. My pilgrimage to the 2005 Net Nude gathering began Monday evening, April 4th, with a flight to Las Vegas, Nevada. At about the time of my arrival in Sin City that night, Las Vegas Bare Hiker (LVBH) was on his way home from work, and just happened to stop by the airport, looking for a navigator for the long drive to DeAnza Springs Resort and all places in between. What a coincidence!...I was going to the same place!!! Tuesday morning, our first planned stop was at Deep Creek Hot Springs, near Apple Valley, CA, and since we wanted an early start for the 3-hour drive, we awoke long before daybreak. After packing and repacking our gear in LVBH’s Jeep, I was reminded of the beginning of the Beverly Hillbillies show, as I looked at the load we’d stuffed to the ceiling. For the rest of our journey, I’d hear the banjo replay of the theme song every time I got in the vehicle. We got on the road while the sky was still dark and the traffic was light... oCamping Bares. We are a clothing-optional travel club not affiliated with a clothing-optional resort. We are located in Southern California with most members and activities centered on San Diego. The Camping Bares has been in continuous activity since 1976. As of December, 1997 our mailing list number was over 350; our membership is actually higher than that since many newsletters go to households with more than one Camping Bare. We do not discriminate against singles, married, gays, political affiliation national origin or anything of that sort, Individuals must be over the age of 18 years to join. We have more info on our application form. We are emphatic that the Camping Bares are not a swinger or sex group. Singles-friendly! Visit the site for more information.
o Cinquo Palmas Oasis Report. We'll still keep searching for our ideal hot spring, but we couldn't have come much closer than Five Palms Warm Well, aka Palm Oasis Hot Spring, 13.4, p. 37; we were at home there. Through a three inch pipe, an artesian well delivers good tasting, clear 92 degree water to the large soaking pool, even in the dead of Winter, which really felt a lot better than we thought it would. The temperature is probably perfect in Summer. Like a true desert oasis, Five Palms is by far the most exotic and picturesque, a la a South Seas island, warm spring we've visited to this point. It's really a neat place with a clean sandy bottom and scenery that never ceases to please the eye... (click link to read the rest of the report.)
o Corn Spring (BLM Land) Report. Summer 2005. Corn Spring is on land under the control of the U.S. Bureau of Land Management, which is to say, it's the public's land. The spring is also out of the way, and sunny. In short, ideal conditions for nude use. For the GPS crowd, try Lat. 33° 37´ 34¨, Lo. -115° 19´ 30¨ -- I don't own a GPS, but the place happens to be on the edge of a mapsheet, which makes the measuring a bit easier. For the topographically challenged, it's off Interstate 10, about 28 miles west of the California-Arizona border, and about ten miles east of Desert Center, California. Take the marked exit, turn left at the truck parking lot, and go east until you see a standard street sign labelled "Corn Spring Road". It's a dirt road. The BLM claims that only a four-wheeler should try it, but any two-wheel drive auto can make it. About eight miles in is Corn Spring, tucked in behind the mountain. You can't get lost; it's the *only* road in... (click link to read the rest of the report.)
o Crowley (Wild Willy’s) Hot Spring Report. August 2005. Lots of great photos. Crowley Hot Spring, also known as Wild Willy’s, is a natural spring located in Long Valley, California, southeast of the town of Mammoth Lakes. This area is considered the mother lode of hot springs in central CA, situated along the scenic eastern Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. To get there, from U.S. Hwy 395, southeast of Mammoth Lakes between Mammoth-June Lake Airport and Lake Crowley, take Benton Crossing Road (there’s a small green church on the southeast corner of Hwy 395 & Benton Crossing Rd.) in northeasterly direction for about 3.1 miles (5km). Just past a cattle guard across the road, turn right on a dirt road, and follow it for about 1.1 miles, stay to the right at the large rock, take the left fork after the rock, and continue for about 0.3 miles to a gravel parking area. From there, you’ll see a sign at the beginning of a boardwalk trail, which leads to the hot pools about 200 yards away... (click link to read the rest of the report.)

o DeAnza Springs Resort Report. Short Report on the 2005 NetNude Gathering. April 2005. I have 511 pictures, starting with Take off from Toronto Saturday April 2nd, and ending with our landing in Toronto Monday April 11. Saturday night the resort held their annual Trailer Trash/Tattoo party. I was there with Rob and Bernie, and Jan claims to have been there, but ...... we didn't see her, and she didn't see us. (Note from Jan: Rob, Bernie and Sandy left early as we arrived at 9:30 and stayed until 2:00 a.m.) Sunday night we took over the Bar and had a welcoming party. Monday night we took over the Bar and had another party. Tuesday we drove to Mexico.. to a little place just across the border, called Tecate. We had a tour of their brewery. We parked on the U.S. side and walked across the border, as insurance cost for a rental vehicle was not worth the risk. Wednesday was the All Day trip to Walmart in El Centro. We had a B.B.Q. that night, and David & Alice brought some sort of meat that had been marinated for a few days.. :) Sounded like Eric Estrada, so the name stuck. James brought his telescope and some of us got to see the Rings of Saturn and a few moons of Jupiter, along with the Milky Way, and Orion's Nebula. We visited Black's Beach on Thursday. We survived the climb down (and back up) the 350' cliff, (I have pictures). The steps had mostly been washed out by the mudslides earlier in the year. (not the kind you drink) LOL. I hope Alice is feeling better. I can still hear a whistling in my ears. The outdoor pool wasn't open when we arrived, but they did take the signs down on Thursday, just for us. The pool temp was 58F. I ventured in, but only for a picture. :) Alice went into the pool too. Bernie (from Burlington) went in and swam 2-3 times per day between jumping into the Hot Tub. No one else braved the waters. We gathered a few people together to discover and excavate the Pentanque Court and actualy got to play a few games Friday afternoon. A few days were chilly, But if you stayed by the plexiglas walls of the pool, you could feel the heat of the sun, and we all got fairly tanned. We did have frost on the car windows on 2 occasions (that we know of). We had a "tornado" pass through on Friday night. David & Alice had to run for shelter in Bob's trailer at 2 a.m. as their tent ripped and came down around them. Midnight aka Shithead, has now been re-named TOTO. Rumour has it, the winds were 70mph which is only Gale force, but all our camping trailers along with the 3 Park models shook and the pilot lights went out as the wind blew through the siding &/or windows. The Heat went out at Midnight, and all power went out at 7 a.m. Thursday. The water tower pump burned out due to the power failure, and we had to wait for parts to arrive, on Sunday afternoon. All was restored by 4 p.m. Sunday, and we left at 5 a.m. Monday. All in all, we had a blast, cos we were with friends,..... the joking and camaraderie was well worth the trip. Sandy.......glad to be home, and planning a trip to FLORIDA from now on. (with thoughts of Tucson???). Thanks Sandy for the report!
o Dearth Valley Warm Spring, California, Report. We have our friend Skip Hill to thank for this one. It's a nice one on hot days -- it seems we always hit Tecopa when it's 110 in the shade, so soaking here is nice in that weather because the water is a comfortable 95 degrees in summer. In winter, the water isn't quite warm enough for a good soak, due to a relatively low flow. Free nude soaking and camping on public land. Elevation: probably below seal level... The resort is now being run by a board comprised of many of the resident members in a semi co-op deal worked out with the land owner. Renovations are taking place to improve the grounds though they are moving slowly. Nice club to belong to and worth helping by joining. o Glen Eden Report. June 2004. Much has been improved. I would say the crowd has changed immensely. There is a younger group of people, and I would say the gender balance is closer to 50-50 than it was previously, which is a positive sign. They always have first class entertainment and Saturday night was no exception. They had a country western band which was very versatile and played a variety that all seemed to like. "Back Yard Rodeo." The entire pool area has been redesigned with a waterfall and increased deck space. The cafe has improved under new management. They have added two tennis courts and lots of landscaping. They have a new dog park to prevent the dog problems of the past. I would say there is a whole new attitude there which was the reason we quit going there and moved to DeAnza Springs. I am convinced you would like it there now. We did and I was skeptical about it after the hassles we had been through. None of those personalities are around now, one has been banned for life (Long story). Much of the improvements can be credited with the current manager, Gail Hansen. The past three managers "went with the flow" and didn't want to create waves, etc. Gail had made waves and it has been good. We endorse Glen Eden now. Thanks Jerry for the report!
o Gray Whale Cove State Beach, California. 2007. Gray Whale Cove State Beach is located just a few miles up Highway 1 from the town of Montera. (N. of Half Moon Bay). There is a good sized parking lot on the east side of the road (away from the ocean) and a safe but steep trail down to the beach. Actually the trail drops down about 50 feet from the road and then there are stairs the last 80 or so vertical feet to the beach. Looking out at the ocean, to the left (south) is a fairly large expanse of sand nestled in a cove with steep vertical rock cliffs. Surfers and families like this section and it is usually free of litter and over crowding. Heading north around a series of rocks jutting out into the surf (calm or violent depending on the time of year) is a much smaller beach. This beach historically has been a nude beach and the sheltering rocks and high cliffs on this end make it a good place to come on the days when the wind is blowing but the sun is still out. On the days that I have visited both beaches there were very few people. This is probably due to the somewhat strenuous walk down and up the steps and the trail to the parking lot. The nude section attracts about an equal percentage of males and females. The people that I have met seem to be a mellow nature lovers just looking for a place to get an all-over tan. Also, I have seen nude people on the south beach but that is not too common. There are more people there and that beach can be seen from the road above in a few places. That is not to say that you don't see nude people walking from one end of the two beaches to the other - you do. The water is far too cold to swim in and the waves even on a calm day make it extremely dangerous for a swimmer without a wet suit. Also, dogs are not allowed on either beach. If you are looking for a couple of pocket beaches for a quick stop (and a vigorous walk) or to spend the entire day in (or out of) a swimsuit, this is one of the best beaches in Northern California. Thanks MP for the report!
o Harbin Hot Springs in Middletown, California. February 2008. I had a half day to kill in San Francisco, so I went to Harbin Hot Springs in Middletown, CA. This is a famous new age hot springs retreat center with a clothing optional ethos. From San Francisco you go into the Napa Valley, and take route 29 east out of Calistoga, a wonderful curvy road up and down a pass. Harbin is at the end of Harbin Springs Road. You stop at the gate, register and pay ($25.00 for a day pass plus a $10.00 membership good for a month). I went to a (clothed) yoga class. Later I asked the instructor if anyone ever did yoga in the nude. He said that they did occasionally, but it made the instructors uneasy. He should go to the NYC nude yoga classes to get disabused of that notion. The pools are clothing optional but everyone was nude. You undress in a mixed undressing room with a large glass window looking out over the warm pool, take a soap shower (they provide the soap), and go soak. There are 5 - a meditation triad consisting of a large warm pool, a small very hot pool (115 degrees!) and a small cold pool. People rotate through them, silently. There is also a sign saying no conversation, glass vessels, smoking, or sex. There are two other pools - a heart shaped warm pool, and a regular swimming pool which was unheated and quite cold. There is also a sauna and a steam room. They have a spa offering various rubs and massages. I signed up for a watsu session - a water based shiatsu massage. The therapist and I were both nude. He put flotation bands on my legs, and then swirled me around in the warm pool for an hour, pressing various accupuncture sites, stretching, massaging, occasionally pressing me up against his body. We were both nude but it was totally non-sexual. There is a restaurant open for breakfast and dinner, and a market to buy lunch food. There are lots of hiking trials on the property, which is huge, and which can be hiked nude. On this particularly drizzly winter day I didn't feel like going too far from the pools. The new aginess is not too obtrusive - although the yoga was more meditative and less physically challenging than others I have done. Overall the calm and peacefulness of the place made for a very nice interlude in a busy life. Thanks Mickey for the report. If you wish to contact Mickey, click HERE. Make sure you mention the report you are referring to in the body of the email and that you want the email forwarded to Mickey.
o Harbin Hot Springs Review. 2007. I have visited Harbin Hot Springs sporadically for the past 20 years. In 2007 I visited Harbin three times under three very different conditions. The three conditions were: * Hottest day of the year - too hot to walk on the pavement. Great day! * A pretty warm day but on a three day holiday weekend - try to avoid the three day weekends. Too many people! * And finally a cool rainy day on a Sunday in the fall - wonderful but the swimming pool was too cold - at least for me. (More on the great pool later.)... o California Dreamin’ - Harbin Hot Springs. November 2007. This past November, my wife Barb and I took a mini vacation to the west coast for some much needed unwind time. We flew into San Francisco and being dedicated naturists, like to stay at nude venues as much as we possibly can when we travel; even if it’s only for a day or a night. So, instead of staying at a regular hotel, which we both get enough of (especially Barb) with work, opted to stay the night at Lupin Lodge south of 'Frisco' before heading north up the coast highway. After picking up our rental car and a light-traffic 40 min drive south, we arrived early afternoon and got settled into a yurt we had reserved. Although not 5 star quality, it was more than adequate; clean, quiet and comfortable. We stripped off our bothersome clothes and immediately headed to the hot tub and pool area for some welcome soaking after the 5 hr non-stop from the east coast. It was a late autumn, mid-week afternoon and as a result, there were only a few people about even though it was sunny and warm. But everyone who was there was very friendly to us 'right coasters'. We struck up a very nice lengthy conversation in the hot tub with a lovely woman from Alaska and ended up joining her for wine at sunset on the restaurant’s elevated deck with a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains followed by a very nice meal in the dining room.Afterwards, another soak in the hot tub and we were ready to call it a night. The next morning we checked out with the nice office folks and headed north up the absolutely beautiful coast highway to the Redwoods. There were quite a few secluded beaches along the way that just begged for nude exploration, but it was a little cool and we wanted to get up to Eureka. After a couple of days enjoying/ hiking the grandeur of the Redwoods we headed south to what turned out to be the highlight of our trip, Harbin hot Springs. We almost made a decision before we planned our trip to not go to Harbin, as Barb had found a trip report of it that was less than enamoring. I think it was written by the same couple that posted a less than favorable report here on Netnude, although that is not where Barb read it. I believe she had seen their report on a non-naturist travel forum. It was due to RobC’s rebuttal report and posts here on Netnude that I convinced Barb that we should give it a try. Being how she enjoys hot springs, it wasn’t a hard sell. And let me tell you are we glad we did. Harbin is an incredible experience. The waters alone are certainly enough to make one never want to leave. That being said, one has to understand that Harbin is ‘New Age’ in every sense of the term, so it’s easy to see why this particular couple may have had their eyes opened a bit to something other than the Christian view they see and adhere to. But never once did anyone ever try to push any sort of beliefs or anything else on us. Not once. To the contrary, everyone was as friendly and non-confrontational as you can possibly imagine. Plus Barb learned about some homeopathic medicines that relieve allergic reactions she sometimes endures. Harbin allows couples to hug and embrace in the pools (this does not mean sexual contact), and this is possibly another thing that made the couple uncomfortable. Along with there being quite a few gay and lesbian couples who enjoy Harbin, as I mentioned before, it may have been a bit more than they're used to. Let’s face it, most nudist clubs frown on couples even holding hands, let alone embracing or hugging. However, we never witnessed ANY inappropriate behavior. Just couples holding each other in the hot pool (us included). And as an aside, there were plenty of singles of both sexes enjoying the waters along with a few families with children . As a matter of fact, unlike the lack of numbers at Lupin a few days before, Harbin had a LOT of people there. Putting aside the remarkable waters for a bit, let me say that the tranquility and requested and observed quietness of the place is something that is a most welcome deviation from everyday hectic, noisy life (cell phones are prohibited anywhere on the property, including your room). The grounds are clothing optional except for inside the restaurant, café, store etc. The restaurant is primarily vegetarian, and all the meals we had were excellent. The community kitchen is strictly vegan. You can check out detailed descriptions of the waters, pools, accommodations etc at their website at harbin.org. I have to add that Barb and I treated ourselves each to a different type of massage during our visit and we both came away marveling at how good we felt. I'm not kidding, you can choose between about 20 different massage therapy techniques, each one with a massage therapist dedicated to that discipline. We hated to leave and have thanked ourselves time and again for going. We ARE going to return. And we will hopefully be able to make our next stay even longer. O, and a thank you to RobC on this site. We’ve never chatted but hopefully, we’ll meet you at Harbin. Thanks Joe and Barb for the report!

o Living Waters Spa Report. Desert Hot Springs, California. March 2004. Jeff and Judy Bowman have built a paradise in Desert Hot Springs, about two hours from Los Angeles International Airport. They renovated a small 1950's motel (the Kismet Lodge sign is still there) which spent some time as a low income housing project, and made it into a serene, beautiful clothing optional spa. We drove up to find a plain white building with a funky motel sign, and a locked door with a button. Looking at it from the outside you cannot believe that there will be something wonderful on the other side of the door. Jeff answered the door, a towel wrapped around his waist. A sculpture blocks the view from the entrance, and once around the sculpture it is if you had used a subtle knife to enter an alternate universe. You can see a large hot tub, a swimming pool, and some simple but beautifully furnished motel rooms, with king size beds, lots of pillows, and incredibly soft and fluffy towels. The first day we left the spa to go hiking in Joshua Tree National Park. The next day we just hung out, reading, sunbathing, soaking in the tub, swimming in the pool, talking to the other people who were there. The place is officially clothing optional, but everyone was nude, including Jeff and Judy. Jeff and Judy are certified massage therapists, and a two night stay includes a massage. In addition they gave a little couples massage workshop one evening, which we and two other couples took. The workshop was respectful, gentle, sensual but not sexual. We both learned a lot about touch. They serve a simple breakfast, with excellent coffee, fruit, bread and cereal, but no other meals. The wonderful thing about the place is its peaceful aura and happy feeling. Jeff and Judy have made it their lives' project, and clearly enjoy it as much as their guests. Living Waters Spa is small, but perfect. Thanks Mickey for the report. If you wish to contact Mickey, click HERE. o Lupin Lodge is a clothing-optional getaway near Los Gatos. Located on 110 wooded acres in the south San Francisco Bay Area, Lupin is a special blend of private nature park, recreational/athletic/fitness club, destination resort, spontaneous retreat, mountain campground, small conference center and certified massage school. Featuring a panoramic view of coastal redwoods, the Lupin Clubhouse Restaurant, open year-round, offers three deliciously varied, freshly prepared meals a day plus snacks and beverages at other times. Singles friendly. Visit the site for more information.
o California Dreamin’ - Lupin Lodge. Thanks Joe and Barb for the report!
o Lupin Lodge California, Trip Report. September 2007. The bottom line is: we loved this place to the point that we joined Lupin Lodge family nudist park. I will not spend much time reviewing their facilities as that is done on their own web site. Lupin is located conveniently enough between the San Francisco/San Jose area and the pacific ocean, just off hwy 17. Find Los Gatos California on the map and you have found Lupin. You simply Have to stay in a Yurt. Our first one was nicely done and had red sheets and pillow cases, which gives me an idea as to what to shop for now. Then get up in the morning, stroll over to the restaurant for coffee and greet the sun. Oh-- the area is replete with wildlife- including a couple of stray cats...... I seem to remember a sign that said you are not supposed to allow a cat into your Yurt. Of course this is exactly what we did, and Kitty Cat spent the night snuggled in and purring between us. We should have adopted the cat right there. Enjoy the pool and new spa. Michael and Janet, now Lupin members. Thanks Michael and Janet for the report!
o Lupin Lodge Report. September 2006. My wife and I spent two days and nights at Lupin Lodge near Los Gatos this September (2006). We came away with mixed feelings about it. The grounds are large and attractive, set in a wooded area. The resort is old and it shows. The swimming pool and hot tub are very nice and are clean and very well maintained. The same cannot be said about the accomodations, which are in the form of round Mongolian hard tents called yurts. These are old and not very well maintained. The carpet in ours looked like it has never been cleaned. The beds and linens were good. The toilet facilities are up a hill and quite a distance from the collection of yurts. This turns out to be a problem at night because even in September the nights there were quite cold and damp. One night there was no toilet paper available in the toilets. On the whole the resort appears to be mostly a collection of permanent residents rather than a real resort. There are, however, a fair number of day visitors who come to use the pool and spa. The cost of staying there per night turned out to be as high as at the first class hotel we stayed at in San Francisco the next several nights. One the whole, I cannot recommend Lupin lodge as a resort. It is not nearly as nice as any of resorts in Palm Springs or in Florida that we are familiar with, and that is an understatement. Thanks (no name given) for the report!
o Meadowlark Country House is a beautiful country estate on 20 secluded acres with magnificent views to mountains and nature, two miles out of Calistoga in the heart of the Napa Valley Winecountry. All seven rooms have queensize beds, private bath, TV, VCR, AC, phone, privacy and views to nature and mountains. Some have 4 Poster beds and Frenchdoors opening to a private flagstone terrace or private deck. There is a Fireplace in the livingroom-library of the Bed and Breakfast. Meadodwlark Countryhouse has a large clothing optional, non chlorinated mineral pool, hot tub, sauna and private sunbathing decks. In house massage by appointment. Dogs are allowed with prior approval. We serve a full gourmet breakfast. Children are not recommended for safety and privacy reasons. We do not discriminate against anyone in regard of color, race, marital status or sexual orientation. Our guests are straight, gay, bisexual and lesbian or anything a person likes to be. Our guests are international as well as national and come from all over the world. We have been listed in some of the best publications and had many editorials. We are in the AAA guide to Hidden San Franscisco and Nothern California, Foders Guide, Karen Browns California's best Countryhouses and Inns and so on. Travel and Leisure Magazine in their 1997 June edition "The best of the California wine country" listed MEADOWLARK COUNTRY HOUSE as one of the best places to stay when visiting Napa Valley. They wrote about our clothing optional pool as well. We still get many visitors from this great editorial. Visit the site for more information.
o Morningside Inn, Palm Springs, Report. March 2005. My wife and I spent a pleasant weekend in Palm Springs, staying at Morningside Inn. This is a small, friendly place with a nice sunning area, swimming pool, and hot tub. The rooms are quite small, but comfortable. The other guests were friendly, and, surprisingly for my experience in the clothing optional world, relatively conservative. Several smoked. They were clearly not hippies grown old. The guests were mostly in their 40's through 60's. The owners, Jill and Vern, serve a simple breakfast (English muffins, coffee, bagels, butter, bananas, orange juice, hard boiled eggs, dry cereal) and snacks in the afternoon. They do not serve dinner, but it is possible to grill your own. If you want to leave the inn, there is only a short walk to several very good restaurants in downtown Palm Springs. Palm Springs is convenient to some wonderful desert hiking: Joshua Tree National Park, Indian Canyons, Ansa-Borrega State Park, and the desert was in bloom last week. It is a pleasure to hike all day, then go back and be able to take off all your clothes and relax. On the way back from Palm Springs we spent an hour on Black's Beach in La Jolla. You follow the signs to the gliderport off North Torrey Pines Road, and follow the surfers down a steep path to the beach, ignoring the sign that says the cliffs are unstable and dangerous due to the recent rain. We had hiking sticks and used them going down - the path was muddy. On a warm Wednesday noon most of the nude beachers were male, but there was nothing unesthetic happening (as has been occasionally complained about at Black's). Thanks Mickey for the report. o Palm Springs Travel Guide. Picture the Palm Springs area, a region set quietly apart from the rest of Southern California in Riverside County's Coachella Valley, bounded by majestic snow-capped mountains all around. It's one scenic destination comprised of eight cities - Cathedral City, Desert Hot Springs, Indian Wells, Indio, La Quinta, Palm Desert, Palm Springs and Rancho Mirage. Year-round mild weather and world-class amenities attract and entertain 3 million visitors annually. All of this is within easy reach of travelers. The Palm Springs International Airport serves all of the resort cities. Ten major air carriers serve the airport and provide daily departures including non-stop service to hub cities in the United States and Canada. A short 45 minutes from Palm Springs, Interstate 10 meets Interstate 15, providing easy access to both San Diego and Las Vegas. Several naturist hotels (Terra Cotta, Desert Shadows Inn) make this destination a must. Visit the site for more information.

o Pomponio State Beach Pomponio State Beach, California. 2007. Pomponio State Beach Pomponio State Beach is located 14.5 miles south of Half Moon Bay on Highway 1. There is a well marked parking lot that holds about 75 cars. The lot is patrolled so even when there is not attendant be sure to put the $6 day fee in envelope that is provided at the guard station. (The fine for not doing so is pretty high) There are two restrooms located along the Highway side of the parking lot. The beach changes a great deal from summer to winter. In the summer, it is about 200 to 300 feet to the water and the sand is soft fine. It is easy to walk to the south over a small creek to a large sandy beach that, depending on the time of year, has quite a bit of drift wood. In the winter the creek is turned into an unpredictable river that is almost impossible to cross. At this time of the year, the beach can be within a few feet of the base of the cliff. Again in the summer, it is a nice walk to San Gregorio beach to the north along shore bounded by waves and high cliffs. To the north on a clear day, you can clearly see the lighthouse at Pigeon Point and further up the beach, the radar towers on the point near the Half Moon Bay boat harbor. (It is about 1.5 miles from Pomponio State Beach to San Gregorio Beach.), There are several promontories of land that jut out making a series of very private beaches that are perfect for a quiet day on the ocean. On this main expanse of the beach to the north, it is rare to see more than a few people an hour walking along the beach. It is also rare to see more than 5 or 10 people spread out along the mile walk in little encampments on the upper sand. There are several places along the long section to build wind shelters with the available drift wood. In the summer a small number of people and sunbathe topless or nude in almost complete privacy. In the winter, the nice sand is pulled out to sea into deeper water leaving a coarse gravely sand that is much darker in color. The water surges much closer to the base of the cliffs and it is easy to get cut off by the rising tide between the points of land that form the pocket beaches. This is extremely dangerous! It is impossible to climb the cliffs to the safety of the trail and road above. (The cliff is from 60 to 120 feet high and straight up and made up of crumbly sand and mud-like stone.) The ocean is unsafe for swimming and there are frequently undertow conditions and swirling waves along the deeper holes in the sand along the surf line. Fee $6 per day for one car No dogs No lifeguard Pack out your litter. Thanks MP for the report!
o Pyramid Hot Spring Report. 2005. This one is located amidst the absolutely spectacular scenery of the lower Kern River Canyon at 1,855 feet above sea level. Nude is the norm in the 101 degree pool available most of the year, but forget it during the spring freshet or after a heavy rain -- there's so much water rushing down the canyon that the soaking pool is invisible beneath the raging torrent, as it was during our last visit heading for Alaska in June '04. The pool is small; four good friends is all it can hold. This is a remote location; most services are in Bakersfield, 17 miles to the west. Free nude camping is available on public lands nearby. DIRECTIONS: At the bottom of Kern River Canyon on SR 178 east of Bakersfield, begin climbing into the canyon. A little more that 2.2 miles in is a paved parking lot on the north side of the road. Pull in there. 45 degrees downstream on the opposite bank is a 12 foot high rectangular boulder under which is the soaking pool. Various faint trails lead down to the river where one must hop boulders to the other side to reach the hot spring. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DO THIS IN TIMES OF HIGH WATER. Enjoy! o Sequoians, Castro Valley, California. September 2007. This resort is in a perfect setting. Its convenience to urban and suburban areas is surprisingly good. My visit to the Sequoians was my first nudist experience, as well as the first trip to the Sequoians. The grounds are well kept, and the creature comforts were all I could ask for in this more rustic setting. There was an "at home" feeling to the place, and I found it easy to introduce myself as a newcomer. I entered the place as a stranger, and at the end of the day, I left as a friend. The swimming pool was nicely maintained and solar heated; perfect for swimming. Also there was a fine spa for relaxing in. The restrooms are located adjacent to the swimming pool, and there are outdoor heated shower facilities next to the rest room. A roomy recreation room is nicely appointed with a full kitchen for guest usage, a stage for musical performers, a piano for talented members to play, good size television with plenty of movies on tape. Outside the rec room are plenty of picnic tables for outdoor meals. There are plenty of trails within the property for those who like to long walks. It is hard to imagine anything that was lacking. The entry fees are quite modest for all you get. Overall, I would rate the Sequoians very favorably. Thanks Enigma for the report!
o Shepherd Hot Spring Report. This is a really cute nude soak in the Hot Creek area east of Mammoth Lakes, California, known as The Mother Lode Of The Eastern Sierra. Many other nude soaks, including Big Hot, Little Hot Creek, Molly's, Crowley, Travertine, Buckeye, Old Benton and others are within day trip distance. The whole area is a gold mine for nude soaking. Natural mineral water flows from a nearby spring at 125 degrees; the temperature in the stone and mortar pool is controlled by a valve -- PLEASE DO NOT leave the valve open upon leaving or else the next soaker(s) could be scalded... (click link to read the rest of the report.)
o Silver Valley Sun Club is a Clothing Optional RV Park/Campground Nestled in the Mohave Desert of Southern California just 25 minutes east of Barstow off of I-40. This is approximately half way between the Los Angeles basin and the glitz and glitter of Las Vegas and Laughlin, Nevada. We are visited by many travelers who appreciate the chance to relax and enjoy the special peace and freedom that the Mohave desert offers. There are two hot tubs, an above-ground swimming pool, ping-pong, a pool table, swimming, fishing, water volleyball, sand volleyball, paddle boating and starry walks in the desert. There is a well equipped children's playground for the enjoyment of the little ones. The dominant feature of the 15-acre facility is the two acre lake, which is surrounded by huge cottonwood trees. The lake features two islands, offering both shady and sunny areas. You can camp at the shoreline of the lake or choose one of the improved RV sites. We have no policy on Singles, they are always welcome. Singles-friendly! Visit the site for more information.
o Stewart Mineral Springs, California, Report. On the way to Bellingham, Washington to catch the ferry for Alaska, in the warm glow of 14,000+ foot high Mount Shasta, we ran encountered a lovely, quiet retreat called Stewart Mineral Springs with newly expanded clothing optional use. Ordinarily, we don't visit places with artificially heated water, but in this case, it was natural mineral water that was being heated and once we saw the inspiring view of majestic Mount Shasta, smiling down in all directions, we just had to stop and bask in that warmth. Later we learned that Shasta isn't visible from the springs proper, but the place was so nice, it made little difference; the warmth was still there... o Tecopah Hot Springs Report. December 2004. From our friend Betty who just left Tecopa: Baths are not free any more. Started charging $5 a day on Dec. 1, $25 for weekly pass. Still two separate bathhouses and they remain nude only. Know there was talk at one time about allowing suits (i.e. optional) until remodel and central pool built. Maybe there were too many complaints-anyway still nude use only for foreseeable future. Are closing at 9 pm however so no late soaking anymore. All giant steps backwards. A half century tradition is going, going... Thanks Camilla & Bill for the report.
o Terra Cotta Inn in Palm Springs. The Terra Cotta Inn offers: Spacious garden-like grounds; 17 rooms nearly twice the size of all local competitors (some with kitchens and private patios); an outdoor pool and huge Jacuzzi spa with gorgeous mountain views; daily poolside breakfasts (included); a romantic fire pit; barbecue facilities; spa services; fax and other business services; catered meals available; adjoining rooms; weekly and special rates; and more! Visit and see why Los Angeles magazine selected it as one of the top four resorts for couples in Palm Srings. Perfect for first time couples trying nude sunbathing. Visit the site for more information.
o Terra Cotta Inn Report. February 2004. My wife Kelly & I recently returned from an 11 day getaway at the Terra Cotta Inn, a couples-only 17 room inn located in a residential area in the northern part of Palm Springs, California. The Terra Cotta Inn is one of several nudist resorts in Palm Springs. The others are Morningside Inn (smaller and, apparently, more oriented to weekend visitors) and Desert Shadows (much larger with the now-famous nude bridge). There are also several other clothing-optional spots in Desert Hot Springs, a city just north of Palm Springs. This was our first visit to Terra Cotta and to Palm Springs. Somewhat oddly, there is a daycare center right next door to the inn, something that confused one first-time visitor that we talked to who drove right past the place not believing that a nudist resort and a daycare could be so close together... (click link to read the rest of the report.)
o Ventana Resort and Spa at Big Sur, California. July 2006. Ventana Resort and Spa at Big Sur, CA is a lavish upscale spa and resort. On the Web it advertises a clothing-optional pool/hot tub/sauna complex. The hotel itself is wonderful. Fireplaces in the rooms, spectacular food at the restaurant, nice little touches like wine and cheese in the afternoon, a good spa for massages and scrubs. You drive to a parking lot near the resort, and the bell-people fetch your baggage in a golf cart. NO unesthetic cars in view. They also have two swimming-pool-hot-tub complexes, one textile, the other clothing optional. The pool is long enough so you can swim laps, heated for the dicey Big-Sur weather; the tub is big and deep, and not a tub, rather a small deep pool. The place is clothing optional, and 80% of the people opt for clothing, so unless you are pretty comfortable with being a nude minority, it is tough. That being said none of the textiles in the CO pool area looked askance or disturbed at our nudity. There was, after all, a textile pool for the truly uptight. However, several people ignored the signs at the clothing optional hot tub saying that towels only were allowed. I guess they were upscale gawkers. Thanks Mickey for the report. If you wish to contact Mickey, click HERE. Make sure you mention the report you are referring to in the body of the email and that you want the email forwarded to Mickey.
o Villa Escondida is no longer a nudist resort.
o Wild Mint Hot Spring Report. 2005. Directions: From the center of Cedarville, California, go south on Surprise Valley Road, CR 1, passing through Eagleville. From Eagleville, go 8.6 miles to an abandoned cement dwelling on the right (east) side of the road. The soaking tank is between the house and the road. Report: Located on the only road from Gerlach, Nevada, to Cedarville, California, Wild Mint Hot Spring is completely surrounded by mint plants that can be picked and put in the water or brewed into tea. Neat! Wild Mint is on private land and is far enough away from Burning Man so that it's not closed around the time of The Event. Free nude soaking. Free camping. One may need a sock and tennis ball or something else to stop up the drain. In winter it freezes and snows regularly at this 4,625 foot elevation hot spring, so plan accordingly. Pick up what you need in either Gerlach or Cedarville; the general store in Eagleville wasn't open last time we went through. The hot water flows out of fissures in the rocks and is carried to the pools by multiple pvc pipes which may be moved aside for less flow and a cooler soak. It's not the greatest soak, but it's an interesting one with the aroma of wild mint wafting through the air. Though it's within sight of the road, no one minds the customary nude use.
