Hotel Carayou 's man made beach. The hotel is part of the Novotel chain and is located across the bay from Fort St.Louis in an area of Martinique called Trois Islets. This is the main tourist area on Martinique. August of 1997. Thanks Archie for the photo. Martinique

Archie Martinique Med Beach on south shore of Martinique in the Diamante area. This beach is located about 4 miles from the Club Med on the Island. There are no nude beaches on Martinique other than a C/O area at the Club Med. Martinique is an interesting island but isn't big on tourism and I wouldn't recommend it for nudists or naturists. Topless bathing is common but in 2 weeks we couldn't find one beach where nude swimming was allowed ( or safe ! ). August of 1997. Thanks Archie for the photo. Martinique

Archie Saline Martinique This beach is the most photographed and one of the prettiest beaches in the Caribbean and is located on the south coast of Martinique. The water is warm and generally calm. There are no hotels at all along this beach and it is one of the most "unspoiled" beaches you will find. Thanks Archie for the photo. Martinique

Archie Anse Noir We asked the locals where we could find a beach that tourists didn't go to. We were directed to follow a very narrow and twisted mountain road to a little fishing village called Anse Noir. The sand is volcanic and is a dark grey colour. Apart from two or three fishermen, there were only 2 other people on the beach. Thanks Archie for the photo. Martinique

Anse d'Anne Beach. This beach is about a 15 minute drive from the main hotel/tourist area. A ferry leaves this beach about every 30 minutes going to Fort de France, the capital of Martinique. Thanks Archie for the photo. Martinique

Swimming Pool area at Novotel Carayou Hotel The main hotel/tourist area on Martinique is called Pointe d'Bout. The second largest hotel is called the Novotel Carayou. This shot is of the swimming pool taken from the bar after having a couple of Rum punches and a local drink called a Ti'Ponch (Rum and brown sugar - Ti'Ponch is short for Petite Ponch - it is served in a shot size glass).
