Glen Echo, Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Spring 1999
After a few days of planning me and my friend Mikey finally went to Glen Echo.
We went on Good Friday. What should have been a short drive up there turned out to be a long one as one of us refused to stop and ask for directions. I was willing to, but the driver wasn't. I had packed us a good lunch. We had egg salad on onion buns, apples, fruit cocktail, and he brought the beer. After 90 minutes of driving we finally arrived at our destination. The driver finally gave in and stopped at a phone booth and called the resort. But we did see some wonderful scenery while driving around.
We were taken on a tour of the place and were finally left to our own devices. We quickly changed and first stop the showers and the whirlpool. The whirlpool was so warm, but the powerful jets nearly sent me flying. I can see why no kids are allowed in the whirlpool. The sauna was the next thing we tried. It was very nice and quite big. The pool was even better, a bit on the cold side but once when you submerge yourself it's not all that bad. We swam and floated for awhile. Then got out, showered, sauna, then went up stairs to play pool. There are ping pong tables, pool tables, foose ball, tv/vcr, and N64.
There is also a kitchen where the cook will make you something to eat at a good cost. There's hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, grilled chesse, meat sandwiches, pop, ice cream, etc. There is something for everyone. After being beaten at pool we decided to have lunch. Although on the cool side and it being gray and gloomy outside we ate our lunch outside. It was cold and a tad breezie but very pleasant. After we ate we ran to the showers and whirlpool. Then the sauna and pool. We enjoyed our stay so much that we stayed till 7pm at night. It was not very busy when we went but during the summer the place is very busy. It is always best to make a reservation. The cost is reasonable. The camping costs are good priced to.
Glen Echo is a nice resort. Hidden among large trees on a huge property. With it's own private lake. There is an outdoor pool and tennis courts. It's great walking outside and hearing nothing except the wind and birds. The indoor pool, sauna, and whirlpool were great. We met some nice folks and we played pool again with another couple and yes again I lost. But one day I am going to beat Mikey at pool.
I really enjoyed the day. To bad it was a tad on the gloomy side outside. But we were inside, nude and having a great time.
Take a trip up to Glen Echo and have fun.
Fran
