Firefly in Negril, Jamaica

1991 - 2001

I am working on my fifth trip 5/9/2002 to 5/16/2002.

Small lay back clothing optional. Families, couples and singles. Great little beach all sand no rocks. One can walk out what seems to be miles at a safe depth.

Owners on site, staff friendly and helpful.

I have meet great people at Firefly and the small bar non clothing optional, said to have the COLDEST RED STRIP BEER IN NEGRIL, draws people from other resorts.

Meeting people is no problem mann.

Local Jamaican food a must check with people who have been there before, we know most of the great local spots on the beach, off the road or in town. Traveling in a group is still a good idea in town or on the beach at night. Never had any problems nor did I look for any. If one is looking for free sex and swinging, wrong spot.

Four months and four days to Paradise.

Followup email. I asked Rich what had changed over the 5 years.

About ten years ago, I read an article in the local Phila. Paper's Travel Section about a place called Firefly in Negril. When I read Tan all over, I was on my way. The first of my going on five trips.

What has changed in the ten years? Thank God not much, except we lost the palm tree at the beach front to disease not erosion as I thought.

Mr. and Mrs. Sykes are still the owners. Mr. Jerry still the best cabbie in Negril supplies trips to and from the airport as well as into town. Trust him for Blue Mountain Coffee by the pound bag.

The cottages have improved over the years most all have AC now. Have tried four different cottages the best for me the Cottage on the Beach.

I guess the only thing that changes each year would be it's only better.

Firefly is not for everybody, just those who love sand, the sun, the water and a lay back restful vacation or for those from Europe, a restful holiday.
