AGDE - THE HOLIDAY THAT IS DIFFERENT.

So, you need a change? How about a holiday? Even better, how about a holiday with a difference ?

Firstly this suggested holiday is suitable for males or females, families or couples, whether old or young, overweight or under- weight, lazy or energetic, gregarious or shy. Whatever your age, weight or personality you will meet people just like yourself.

Curious? Why not consider a naturist holiday at Cap d'Agde in southern France.

Cap d'Agde is a small town on the Mediterranean situated about 45 miles from Montepelier. A 'quartier naturisme' has been built has been built on land reclaimed from the sea.

The naturist quarter consists of over 5,000 apartments and homes of varying sizes and quality. There are several huge complexes of apartments up to four or five storeys high. Each apartment is self contained and opens on to a private sun porch.

At the eastern end of the complex is a large naturist caravan park.

In the quarter are supermarkets, shops, restaurants, bars, night clubs, games and tennis courts, three swimming pools, a marina, a bank, post office, police station, and a beach which extends for over a kilometre.

There are also three travel agencies acting on their own behalf and in conjunction with parent companies in the U.K. and Germany.

During the peak times of the year (July-August) there can be in excess of 35,000 nudists enjoying themselves. Vehicular traffic is restricted although there are ample parking spaces for residents.

The first impression one gets of Agde is that it is rather an austere concrete jungle. This is soon dispelled when one starts mixing with other nudists. Additionally, looking from the higher storeys of the apartment blocks one can see the private homes with their beautiful sun areas and rooftop gardens.

The pools are extremely clean and well kept. The beach is sandy and water clear. It is interesting to note that little notice is taken of the `End of Nudist Beach' signs and no offence is apparently taken by textiles using their part of the beach. In the main this rule is self-regulating as one would feel very lonely being the only nudist amongst thousands of textiles.

It is a great experience shopping, banking, wining and dining in the nude. Nobody takes any notice of another's dress or nudity.

Vacationers are not 'confined' to the naturist quarter. At least one of the travel agents, Emsdale Sunlovers, regularly arrange coach trips and tours to the surrounding districts and villages which are of great historical interest.

Emsdale staff also arrange darts evenings, a weekly boules competition, a barbeque, and other activities for it's clients.

The difference between naturist and textile lifestyles soon becomes apparent to the acute observer. In the former, space is given to others this is not so obvious in the textile world. Additionally no one stares at or `undresses' members of the opposite sex, there is a lack of unwelcome attention from the men this enables everyone a degree of relaxation and safety whether alone or in company of others.

Agde is the ideal place for a nudist holiday. It is equally ideal for those contemplating the lifestyle but who have not yet tried it. One will quickly realise the advantages of the lifestyle and may adapt to it at leisure. There is no compulsion for anyone to go nude anywhere except in the swimming pools.

The cost of a 14 day stay at Agde is very competitive. We recently obtained a package deal (3 weeks for the price of two) for a self contained apartment and return fares from Gatwick for 820 British Pounds ($US1353). This booking was made through:-
