Euronat, France
Based in the Bordeaux region of France, Euronat is a few miles from Montlivet, in the Medoc wine growing area.
With vineyards of every shape and size in the area. The accommodation comprises chalets, which are either rented or owner occupied, a large tented area and an area for caravans and motor homes.
The first thing that strikes you about Euronat is the size, despite the fact that there were probably a thousand people staying there they all seem to disappear into the large pine forests and it is really very quiet.
The beach again is amazing, between 50 and a hundred yards wide, it stretches for miles in either direction.
Again no matter how many people are on the beach, you only have to walk a short distance and you are almost alone.
You could in theory go to Euronat and spend two weeks completely naked, as the site possesses several shops and all the facilities that you are likely to need, including a cinema, although a knowledge of French is a help as most of the films are in French.
In addition to Euronat there are several other nude beaches in the area, plus the fact that nobody seems to bother on any of the beaches if you are not wearing clothes, in fact it seems provided you keep off the roads, you can quite happily wander where you like naked.
The storms of last winter caused devastation of the woodlands throughout the area and have created piles of wood looking like giant match sticks stacked up ready to be carted away. These piles can been seen driving down almost any road in the area and Euronat has its own piles, although work was already taken place to replant the area.
Another feature of the area, is a large number of concrete structures built by the Germans as what were supposed to be defences against invasion from the sea. Sadly that part of history although which finished over 50 years ago still remains evident today, but many of them have simply fallen off the cliffs and lie in strange positions on the beach. Many of them decorated with modern graffiti, some of it very good.
