La Jenny Report.
2005
Firstly, a big thank you to all of you that took the time to write a review about La Jenny and to Jan at NetNude for posting them.
My family and I had been to the usual haunts in Fuerteventura, and Gran Canaria and been on the naturist sections there but it seemed like an all different beast to go to a naturist resort. Well, we were right, it was.
The night before we hooked up the bikes to the car and set off first thing in the morning to get the ferry to Dunkirk. Uneventful journey down to Dover and crossed with Norfolkline. The ferry was basic to say the least and not particularly clean so we had to watch our 2 year old the whole time so we won't be using them again but at the time they were cheap and got us over to France which is all they had to do.
We had broken the journey into two sections but reading previous posts had not booked ahead. The plan was to drive until the kids got unbearable (6 yrs and 2 yrs) and then find somewhere to stop. Important advice for anyone taking kids. Invest in an in-car DVD Player, it was a god send in the hours to follow. I won't dwell too long on the journey but with the kids needing constant wee stops, it seemed to take forever.
AT last, we arrived at La Jenny at around 3.30 pm and the key had not been returned to reception so we had to hang around for a while to get into our chalet, so we headed on over to it and started to unpack the car outside ready to move in when we got the keys at 5 pm. Luckily, the previous residents or the people that check the chalet when you leave had forgotten to lock one of the patio doors so we moved in and unpacked anyway. Naughty but nice ;)
Being first timers, my wife had packed enough clothes and bedding for an arctic expedition despite my constant reminders that it was a naturist resort, eventually, I gave up and left her to it. “Yes Dear, we will need coats on a naturist resort in August….”
First day was exploration day, we got the bikes together and not sure of how things are done, we ventured out into the great unknown, minimally clothed to find out the rules. What a beautiful place, the weather was hot, the sun shining through the masses of fir trees and the chalets all in beautiful condition dotted around us.
First port of call was the pool, shops and bar for a coffee. The first thing we noticed was how clean everything was.
As we wandered around we found that most people were minimally dressed in the shopping areas, a big relief to us as we didn’t want to stand out as first timers. The notice around the pool stated that nudity was compulsory on the areas adjacent to pool but strangely not in the restaurant area that was the other side of the pool which meant people having lunch generally were clothed.
Next port of call was the beach. The beach is ‘off-site’ down a lovely lane. The board as you left said please wear some clothing but some people ignored this and just went as they were.
What a beach, the sand was the best I have ever seen and went on for miles, the beach shelved very gently into the Atlantic so it was perfect for small children and we saw that everyone was obeying the compulsory naturism rules and yes so did we.
As I mentioned earlier, we had been to “textile” places with naturist areas and were used to the hoards of nude people spotters wandering backwards and forewords along the waters edge pretending to stroll and yet never looking where they were going. You all know what I mean. There was none of that. No feeling like being in a freak show. FANTASTIC. Naught to relaxed in 2 minutes. My wife started to catch some rays and I took the girls into the water for a splash.
We have never been into entertainment on any holiday so we can’t say if it was good or bad so you will have to rely on other reports for that. Sorry.
Because we had only booked for 1 week as a “trial”, we hardly ventured off site, partially because it was in the middle of nowhere and partially because the place was so fantastic. The girls loved the pools and went off to play with the other kids in the pool quite happily. Our oldest is 6 and has never been one to go to a kids club so she stayed with us. Hanging onto apron strings was not available but was applicable. There were plenty of kids at the club and they did look as if they were having a whale of a time.
The only 1 draw back was on leaving. We didn’t know we had to ‘book’ our chalet ‘inspection’ so when we went to book it we only had the choice of leaving by 10.30 am. You have to clean the chalet top to bottom before leaving so we couldn’t understand why if we have to be out by midday latest we couldn’t get in on arrival till 5pm. After not getting into our chalet till 5 pm and being asked to leave by 10.30 am, we lost a day at the site. As this is the only niggle, its still an A+ holiday. Lets see some more brits keeping their end up this year…
