o Autocamp "Nudist" in Vrbovska, Croatia, Report. 2000. HR214 63 Vrbovska Tel/fax:+395.(0)21.744 034. Outside the tourist resort Jelsa on island Hvar you find a small town named Vrbovska. From there it is about 1 mile to autocamp "Nudist". When you´re coming to Vrbovska there are signs showing you the way. You can reach Hvar with car ferry from Split to Stari Grad or from Drvenik to Sucuraj... (click link to read the rest of the report.)
o Croatia Report. October 1999. Autocamp"Istra" in Vrsar and "Banculuka" in Baska on island Krk. They are both "FKK". Here in Europe there are not so many organized nudist camps as you seem to have in the US. "FKK" means that you are free to go as you are pleased. Freier Körper Kultur, German meaning "Free Body Culture". But I think that on these camping sites 100% of the guests go naked. Also people from town come here over day. No entrance fee or anything...(click link to read the rest of the report.)
o Dubrovnik, (2002) the amazing old walled city, has two good spots for nude bathing: Cava beach, in the Babin-Kuk peninsula, is a mostly textile beach with a nude area at one end - it is a rocky and pebbly beach, the nude area being less comfortable than the textile area. The nude area has two sections, the southernmost end being less comfortable and more nude than the adjacent part, which borders the textile area. There were lots of clothed people in front of the FKK (the German) sign. The island of Lokrum, fifteen minutes away by boat from Dubrovnik has a nice rocky nude beach - go left when you get off the ferry. The island of Lopud, an hour by ferry from Dubrovnik, has a large sandy beach, Sunj, about a twenty-five minute walk from the town, up a hill and down a hill. The nude section is to the left of the beach, with plastic lounges on the rocks and sand. On busy days the nude section spills into the textile section and everyone is happy. o Hotel Meridian Lav, just south of Split, (2002) has a coed sauna/steambath/hot tub facility (“The Roman Baths”) with signs stating that bathing suits are not allowed. It is limited to people over the age of 16. The area is just off the swimming pool area, and there are no changing facilities. Instead the assumption is that you will just chuck your bathing suit on the marble and hop in. A textile-covered family (mother, father, two teenagers) were told to get out of the sauna by a naked man who pointed to the sign. Baska Voda, just north of Makarska, has a lovely clothing optional beach, just beyond the beach bar Oseka on the southern part of the town. The beach is sandy, and was 90% nude. You have to put on a bathing suit to buy a drink or snack at the bar.

o Koversada & Adriatic Report. August, 1998. Last August and the beginning of September my 19 year-old son and I enjoyed a two-week stay in Croatia. We started by meeting friends from the Slovene Ski Team, who had chartered a 52' sloop for a week. We cruised around the northern Adriatic near Losinj. What a magnicicent area - and what a great place for naturism...(click link to read the rest of the report.)
o Lokrum, Dubrovnik, Croatia, Report. 2000. This well known island is situated just outside the ancient town of Dubrovnik. There are boats leaving the old harbour every hour on the hour. Return from Lokrum at 20 minutes past every hour. Traveltime is about 10 minutes and the price for a roundtrip is 15 kuna for adults and 5 kuna for children. From the harbour at Lokrum there is a 5-10 minutes walk to the nudist beach. Just follow the road to the left after debarking the vessel. There are clear signs showing you the way. After a slight climbing of the road you´re entering the nudist area... (click link to read the rest of the report.)
o Monsena Naturist Resort, summer of 1998. Monsena opened in 1975, it is on the Adriatic coast about 3 miles from Rovinj. Built on the southern slope of a gentle hill it comprises a large complex of "bungalows", which contain hotel type rooms, upstairs ones with balconies, self catering apartments and a large camp site. But if all you want to do is relax then you can. Tennis, volleyball, boulle and water sports are all available in addition to a large pool with water slide and of course the beach and wonderful warm sea... o Nudism in Creta, Greece, Report. Summer 2002 In SOUGIA (south of HANIA) you can enjoy nudism without any problem. People from all over the world, many Greeks, families and gay couples. Very good coast. Cool and very clean water. You must go!! Trip report by Dragon and George.
o Mirtiotissa Beach on Corfu Report. 2002. These are 2 photos from August 2001 of Mirtiotissa beach on Corfu. It is quite simply the best naturist beach in the Greek islands and certainly the best I have ever visited. It can be quite a schlepp down to it but is well worth the struggle. Early in the season it is relatively quiet but as you can see later on it gets busy... (click link to read the rest of the report.)
o Myrtiotissa beach in Corfu Report. 2002. Myrtiotissa beach in Corfu is stunningly beautiful and it needs to be because getting to it is a real challenge. I would advise the following... Buy a good map, follow the directions (available on the internet and in most of the various guide books) carefully and then be prepared to get seriously lost. It WILL happen. Once you have found it, expect a long walk down a steep cliff and remember... the climb back up is even harder. It is worth it though... (click link to read the rest of the report.) o The Peloponnese and the Island of Spetses, in Greece. June 2004. I had the opportunity to do a little nude beach hunting while traveling in Greece. I found two opportunities, both of which are very unofficial. The Argolid is the far eastern peninsula of the the Peloponnese. Kosta is the bottom, the boat port for the island of Spetses. You can take a water taxi to Ayas Paraskevi, a beach on Spetses, or take a boat to the main town on Spetses and then a cheaper boat to Ayas Paraskevi. Walk from the beach to the main road, and turn left. The road climbs up a steep hill, and then follows the edge of the mountain. About 10 minutes later you will see a 'watch out for forest fires' sign and a green metal structure. There is a path here that leads down to a pristine pebble beach that people can use nude. The second place was in Hinitsa Bay. Take the road from Porto Cheli to Kosta. Just after the sign to Ermione you will see a sign on the right for HInitsa Bay. Follow the signs to the Hinitsa Bay Taverna (not the hotel). Park at the Taverna - a good place for lunch - and walk left from the Taverna, by the textile beach, and follow the path over the hill. You will shortly come to a fence. Turn right at the fence, and follow the path around the fence. You will see a tiny beach. When we arrived there was a nude couple, journalists, who spoke English, who said that this was the only nude beach in this part of the Peloponnese. They had a country house not too far away. The water is clear, lovely, and not too cold. Wear water shoes - there are some sea urchins in the sand. Thanks Mickey for the report. If you wish to contact Mickey, click HERE. o Varkiza Beach, Athens, Greece. May 2004. I visited Varkiza Beach yesterday to see if there was any place to be natural and the answer is maybe. For one thing I'm not certain I was at the Varkiza Beach, but here are the directions on how to get to the beach I was at, from Athens. Take the metro to Dafni, the current end of Line 2 (red). Hop on Bus 171 and take it to its end, which has a large sign saying welcome to Varkiza Beach. The nice sandy section costs 4 euro, but there is a free area south of it. The bus costs 45 cents, but takes at least an hour. There were some women going topless in the paid section, but no naturists. I walked south and past the free area to a rocky section. There were also no naturists here, but there were many areas that were more or less secluded, so I went natural myself for several hours. No one bothered me, even though several people did walk through the area. I've heard people do go nude along rocky areas between Voula, Vouliagmeni and Varkiza, though I spent the day in the area mentioned above. The buses and subway run well after dark so it was easy to return. If anyone else knows where one can sunbathe around Athens, let me know. Thanks Steve for the report.

oMaltao

o Beaches for nudists on the Maltese Islands. September 2004. My boyfriend and I just came back from a trip to Malta and Gozo where we have enjoyed nudist bathing on several spots. There are two locations near Ghajn Tuffieha Bay on Malta where there are nudist beaches. The first stretch is on the far left side of the Ghajn Tuffieha Bay itself. Here, we found mostly a group of old local Maltesians who kept the beach clean and were obviously used to gather there regularly. The beach has some sand/clay and one can easily enter the sea for swimming (sandy entrance with soft slope). Also, there is a sandbank which can be easily reached by 'modest' swimmers. Beside the local old chaps, there were some single guys, another gay couple, a hetero couple and a grandmother with son. The beach does not have sun after 5 PM (early September)... (click link to read the rest of the report.)
o Malta and Gozo Report. May 2002. Some useful information for all naturists visiting Malta and Gozo. There are three unofficial nude beaches in Malta and two in Gozo. The other beaches allow topless sunbathing but nudism may offend so it is unadvisable. Riviera (Ghajn Tuffeha Beach): Take the bus to Golden Sands beach and stop at the stop before this at Ghajn Tuffieha. There is a long flight of steps to the beach. Walk to the far left side (facing the sea) and you will find another small sandy beach that is nude. Alternatively walk up the clay cliffs and you will see another sandy beach with a lovely large smooth rock that is the second beach in Malta. The third is located at Selmun but this is a couples beach and not advisable for singles. In Gozo one can go to Xlendi bay which is a commercial bay with loads of bars. Walk up the tarmacked road on the side and at the top you will see a foothpath that leads to a little bridge in the little valley. Walk along for 5 minutes till you arrive at a white tower. Just beneath this tower is a long strip of rocky beach that is clothing optional. Another nude beach is found at San Blas bay on the far left and alos one at Ghajn Barrani near Marsalforn. Trip report by Nicky.
o Malta Report. 2000. Malta is a small island in the Mediterranean sea, only 100km from Sicily. It is hot and sunny and very relaxed. After having visited this island for over 5 times in two years, I moved here and live on a yacht as an au pair worker. Well....what about nudism here??? Although this is not official, there are some lovely places to go to. Naturally summer is the ideal time starting from Easter till the end of September. If you prefer meeting lots of people try July and August and the other months for a more secluded nude experience... (click link to read the rest of the report.)

oSkiathoso

o Banana Beach, SKIATHOS Island, Greece - June 1998... (click link to read the rest of the report.)
o Little Banana Beach , Skiathos Greece - 1997... (click link to read the rest of the report.)
o Little Banana Beach Report. May 2002. I have just returned from a week in Skiathos with my partner. Whilst there we found the most delightful naturist beach on the far Western Tip of the Island at Koukounaries. The beach is to be found beyond the main crescent of Koukounaries beach. There is a track up to a deserted Hotel - follow this but bear right at the sand track. Keep going up to the top of this hill and then head towards the only house at the top. You will see a gate to the left which takes you down to the beach through an Olive grove. It is a pretty steep hill but well worth the effort, once at the beach you are greeted by white sand, olive trees on the beach and a pine forest behind the sand dunes. The water is shallow - not much more than waist deep for approx 100 yds off beach. Thanks Vince for the report.
