o First Time at La Pines Report. June 2001. This is actually two "First Time Reports." One from me, Mushroom, and one from Spiderwoman (see report below). Mushroom's account of his first experience with social nudity: Spiderwoman and I are very comfortable being naked together. To put it simply, we just got use to it and enjoy being naked. So for a few years we were home nudist, without ever realizing that is what it is called. One time I asked her if she would ever consider trying a nude beach and she said she might. That was all that was said, and neither one of us thought about it again for a long time.... (click preceding link to read the rest of the report.)
o First Time at La Pines Report. June 2001. This is actually two "First Time Reports." One from me, Spiderwoman, and one from Mushroom (see report above). Spiderwoman's account of her first experience with social nudity: I had never really thought about nudity very much on a conscious level at first. When I was a child about three or four years old I use to run around in my underwear all the time, because it was the closest I could get to being naked without my parents having a heart attack about it. But I remember I liked it, and I did not connect that nakedness in any way with sex. Of course after a while, social taboos instilled in me by my parents caused me to start wearing clothes more often and to be less naked most of the time. When I grew up and got my first apartment, I was often naked at home... (click preceding link to read the rest of the report.)
o Louisiana Clubs. Spring 2006. I've been working in Southeast Louisiana as part of the Hurricane recovery effort since January 06'. When I finally got a day off I tried reaching out to the only AANR club (LA Pines) in the region (that was adversely affected by Hurricane Katrina). The owner's wife informed me, in an early February visit, I would be able to "day visit" the club. When I was able to get time off in late February I called the club to insure I would still be welcome and should I try to bring tools or resources to help with their cleanup. I was told by the owner, emphatically, that I would not be welcome as I was a single male (I live in the Northeast and my nudist wife was still there and not with me, obviously). I was very angry with his response and reminded the owner of his wife's prior verbal permission, but to no avail. As the past President of an AANR travel club that allowed all nudists to our events I was livid at this refusal. I then proceeded to NetNude to research the region and hopefully find another naturist club in the region. Lucky for me another nudist had written about Indian Hills Nudist Park in Slidell, Louisiana. The report, then, was not too promising. (Note from Jan: The report was written in 1999 and is out of date so I removed it from the site.) Trying to look at my situation in a positive light I looked up their website and hoped for the best. I wasn't disappointed. My first visit confirmed some of the faults in the previous articles and at the same time removed some incorrect information. The positives are many. First it is a family oriented park as witnessed by the number of families I've seen on every weekend that I've been there. It is open to couples and singles. The staff rotates in the office and couldn't have been more helpful. The infrastructure was in need of help apparently before Hurricane Katrina and has now been addressed. The pavilion roof has been replaced as has many of the indoor wall and floor surfaces. The fishing pond is stocked for "catch and release" fishing. The pool and hot tubs are clean and maintained, as are their rest rooms. The club regulars are friendly and demonstrate all the qualities you would expect at any other club today. They are single friendly, and the ratio is roughly 60% male/40% female with what appears to be singles, couples, families, straight, gay, etc.. A day visitor is directed to a full time resident/ & or her boyfriend for screening and paying your day visit fee. I wound up joining for a year (it was cheaper than paying the daily $20 rate). While their screening process, at least on the surface, appears to have areas for improvement on day visitors, it is what I would consider a standard application in that you need a drivers license and other I.D. to go with the app.. I couldn't say how far reaching their background check might go. Going back to Feb. I was only getting there once a week. My schedule is now allowing me up to twice a week. The negatives are few. While there is a soda machine poolside, you still must BYO F/B (food/beverage). There is still work to be continued (the gate at the front entrance and some fence replacemnet). I haven't inquired with the management why they are not members of either AANR or TNS. I think if you are in the area the club is a good choice for visiting and you won't be disappointed. The website is: http://www.indianhillspark.com/ Thanks Bob for the report.
