o Berkshire Vista Resort. July 2007. My wife and I were heading to Boston this past July for a friend's wedding and were looking for a resort to stay in along the way. As it turns out, Berkshire Vista was handy - just a short distance off I-90 - so we planned to make an afternoon's stop. I had seen it reviewed on NetNude and in the Going Natural so I thought it would be great. The fact that it was a rather cloudy and chilly day didn't make for a grand entrance, and there were few if any other people around when we got there around noon on a Friday. We checked in at the bar, showed them our FCN cards, and asked if we could have a tour of the place. They said no, they didn't do tours - it was private, but pointed out the pool in the distance. It was a little off-putting but we had driven out there so we decided to stay anyway. We paid our fees and headed off to the pool area. There were a few others at the pool, but they soon left and we were basically on our own. The clouds came and went so the sunning was not the greatest. I tried the pool and it was nice enough temperature wise. The hot tubs - yes there are 2 - were both very nice and warm, so we enjoyed them. Being the only people really at the resort seemed a little strange, but we went back at lunch and ordered food from the bar. They served us on the expansive deck - with a couple of cold beer - which overlooked the Jiminy Peaks ski resort in the Berkshire Hills. When the sun did come out we could tell it was a lovely setting for a club - and one of the people there said that on the weekend there would be several hundred people there (odd that when we left late Friday afternoon none of the several hundred had shown up yet). Berkshire Vista is a lovely club in a beautiful mountainous setting, but they need to work on their people skills.... when we commented on how unseasonally cool it was, the woman there said, hey, you're Canadians, you should be used to the cold! Since I see no reason to be going Boston way again, I doubt that we'll be back. Thanks Bill and Jan for the report.
o Moshup Beach on Martha's Vineyard Report. Summer 2008. Moshup Beach on Martha's Vineyard is perhaps one of the most beautiful shorelines I have ever encountered. The beach has tall, multi-colored, clay cliffs on the landside and a coast consisting of areas of only sand, only stone and a varying mixture of both in still other places. The coastline is unique in that in a relatively short distance you can experience many different soil types, colors and character. Large boulders punctuate the coast and form a nice location for shade or shelter. Some local artists will even create stone sculptures on top of these boulders like a mini-Stonehenge I truly wish I were a better writer so I could convey the awesome beauty in a small area. Combine this with a tolerance of nudity and it is a wondrous place... (click link to read the rest of the report.)
