| Avalon is a first-class resort located within a five-hour drive for over half the population of the United States and within two hours of Washington. Our latest projects include beautiful, new condominiums that are for sale and rent. Both one and two-bedroom condos are available as fully furnished units. We've also built two tennis courts and petanque courts (like bocci or lawn bowling). We offer heated swimming pool, tennis, volleyball, condos, lodging, restaurant, lounge, special entertainment, romantic getaways. Avalon is open year round with a continuing variety of activities and a party every weekend. Avalon is a great place to escape the stress of your everyday world and enjoy the serenity and relaxation in the mountains. Avalon is clothing optional and welcomes newcomers with an orientation to nude recreation. Avalon accepts single members and visitors. Singles friendly! Several of our singles have paired up so we don't have a strong core group at this time. Visit the site for additional information. |
| Avalon Report. In August, 2005, my wife and I visited Avalon in Paw Paw, West Virginia. First of all we had spectacular weather. We found that the resort was immaculate and the attendees very friendly. I would suggest to the management that they expand the pool area by extending the fence to encompass some of the grassy adjacent areas. This was our first visit to a nudist resort and only our second time going nude. On the negative, we did not like the fact that there were small children present and in the future will go to adult only CO sites. Thanks No Name for the report. |
| Avalon Report. November, 2002. I recently went to Avalon in WV. I live in Nepa. First, the place was very singles friendly. I am a separated male. I stayed at the lodge. It was quite adequate- the worst part is that the beds were queen. I am 6 '5", my feet were off the bed. lol. The rooms were quite cozy, quiet, comfortable. The food was great too. The new kitchen management used to handle a communion in Calififornia called Lupin Natural Resort. They are making new changes. The grounds were nice very big to walk and discover, I must have gotten my deal of nude walking 3 times. Yes even though it was at least 25 degrees. No frostbite. Activities at PM, was ok, the Saturday had a DJ. Nude dancing very different. The worst part if you go alone it sucks. Next I know to bring a mate or other. The owners were there daily, very pleasant to talk to. Thanks JGrivner for the report. |
| Avalon Report. April 2001. The gentle breeze accompanied by temperatures in the mid 70s made Avalon in West Virginia the perfect spot to spend on Sunday, last April. The nude receptionist in the office smiled and processed our reservation for the day. The last three times we had visited a clothing optional resort or club, for whatever reason, be it policy or temperature, the receptionist had been clothed. My companion later commented to me that there is something especially welcoming about a nude receptionist. It sends the message that you are in the right place. With our day fees paid, and with the weather so beautiful, I had removed my clothes, and my companion had removed her top before we got back in our car. Avalon is clothing optional, except for the pools and the spas, where nudity is required... (click preceding link to read the rest of the report.) Thanks MJS for the report. |
| Avalon Report - Nudist Club Visits near Washington DC. Summer 2000. During the summer of 2000 our family visited four nudist locations within driving distance of Washington DC. While we had previously been to clothing optional beaches at Assateague and Sandy Hook, we had never attended a club or resort. We have two young children, the youngest of which can now handle overnight camping. The first two landed clubs were visited in the early summer and the last two in the late summer. Mid-summer was full of business travel and camping at textile locations. These are our thoughts about some of the things that are important to us. Also included in the report are: Pine Tree Associates and Penn Sylvan Health Society (P S H S). (click preceding link to read the rest of the report.) |
| Avalon Report included -- Nuding Across America. Summer of 1999. We had planned a great vacation for years and at last the opportunity became available. We have been interested in Civil War history for years and had been reenactors, written magazine articles about the Civil War and been members of several historical associations. Amanda is a high school teacher and needed real examples to put more life into history lessons. We needed to replace one of our cars as it was several years old and we didn't want to drive from coast to coast or have to rent a car. We bought a car through the Internet and were met at Dulles International Airport by the salesman and were on our way.... (click preceding link to read the rest of the report.) Thanks Jeff and Amanda for the report. |
| Avalon Report. Paw Paw West Virginia. August 20 & 21, 1999. In the northeast corner of West Virginia, not quite into the eastern panhandle, and near both the Maryland and the Virginia state lines, not far from the little town of Paw Paw, WV, there is a wonderful resort where clothing is optional, the scenery is beautiful, the facilities quite nice, the people very friendly, and the hosts quite gracious. This is Avalon, owned and operated by Phyllis and Patrick Gaffney. The property, which consists of 250 acres (including about 30 acres in the clothing optional area which have been sold for private residences) in the West Virginia mountains, was once a church conference center. Purchased about four years ago by the present owners, it has been enhanced and improved in many ways, and many more improvements are planned for the future.... | Avalon's 3rd Annual Nude Folk Music Festival Report. Paw Paw West Virginia. August 6, 7, 8, 1999. My wife and I attended the Folk Music Festival at Avalon this year and it was great. I heard someone say there were 500 people there on Saturday. I don't know if that is accurate or not but it is consistent with my guesstimate. There was folk music on the stage on the front lawn from about 4:00 PM to midnight Friday, noon to midnight Saturday, and 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM Sunday. The lawn in front of the stage slopes gently down toward it to form a natural sort of amphitheater. It really is an ideal set-up. We sat on our beach chairs about 60 feet from the stage and slightly to stage right. Our view was great as we could easily see over those folks sitting in front of us. There was a nice crowd but there was also plenty of elbow room... (click preceding link to read the rest of the report.) |
| Avalon Report. I had the opportunity to visit Avalon this weekend on Sunday. A fellow list member Dan, made a gracious offer to drive down and take me with him. I was more than overjoyed to ride down in the rumble seat, and off we went! The new Avalon is situated in the Shenandoah Mountains (Hills if you are from Rockiest land) and the landscape was spectacular. We arrived at 09:00 hours and proceeded to sign in and get situated.... | Avalon Report. The road leading up to the Avalon Resort in the hills of West Virginia is like something out of Beverly Hillbillies, pre-move to Beverly Hills. All bumpy and seemingly leading to nowhere. This road less traveled, though, really leads to a paradise unlike any other "camp" or "resort" we've been to so far. Imagine getting up in the morning, naked, walking out of your room no more than 10 feet from the best breakfast you've ever had in a restaurant as good as the best country diners. That's what can happen to you at Avalon.... (click preceding link to read the rest of the report.) Summer, 1998. |
| Greenbriar River Trail Report. 2004. At last! We finally found a place for wildernuding in the state of Camilla's birth, West Virginia, aka The Mountain State. And so it is, for there's so much remote area in West Va, that only those who are very lazy or very timid won't be able to find many natural places for recreating clothed but by the sun. Actually, we didn't `find' this one, our friend Chuck Myers turned us on to it. A loyal NUDISK subscriber, we met Chuck in the Summer of 94 at the First Annual Naturist Life International Reunion at Forest City Lodge in Milton, Vermont, now officially the state of our residence (at last!). Seeking friendship, minor initial differences were overcome and we began to share information. Later Chuck sent us maps and route sheets for The Greenbrier... | Warm Springs Report. August 2006. To my pleasant surprise, I found these springs on a recent trip through western Virginia. Although the area around Warm Springs and Hot Springs (the towns) are quite commercial, the Jefferson Pools are rustic and quiet. I stopped there on a week-day afternoon and shared the springs with one other soaker. Although the pools are segregated by male and female (which I'll never understand, especially in this day), there is no need for suits. It was a pleasant surprise to be able to enter, get a towel, strip, and soak -- all in a quiet atmosphere. I recomment a visit if in the general vicinity. The town of Warm Springs is located at the intersection of routes 39 and 220 in western Virginia. The springs are indeed called Jefferson Pools and are located on the northwest corner of the intersection, across from the Warm Springs Inn. Thanks David for the report. |
