We had a mini heat wave here in NoCal last weekend and we decided on a last minute trip down to Lupin. Nestled in the hills behind Santa Cruz it is only a few minutes west of San Jose and easily accessed from all Bay Area locations, just off Highway 17.

Set in a beautiful, private and 'woodsy area; we have not visited Lupin in many years. The narrow driveway leads you from the public road through the trees, past a little creek up to the offices. Once you sign in at the office you are given a 20 - 25 minute walking tour of the facilities including Club House, tennis court, volley ball courts, pool and hot tubs. There are camping areas and dedicated areas to park RV's. An unusual bonus is a network of (nude) secluded hiking trails in the surrounding hills.

The staff greeted us in a very friendly and efficient manner, they are informative - and fun! We are experienced nudists but I think this would be a great place for novices or even first timers to try out this blossoming and ever more popular lifestyle!

The resort is divided into a quiet zone and a not-so-quiet zone enabling those (depressed and desperate) "Dot.com" types among us to be able to relax in peace and quiet while the kids can play up at the pool. There is a club house and restaurant there with a spacious meeting room and large well groomed lawn area to soak up the sun on one side, and a balcony on which to relax, eat and view the surrounding redwood forested hills. (We were told by others there that the food in the club house is excellent.)

Although we were only there for the day - most others were camping or staying in Yurts -round Mongolian tent-like structures. It was pretty hot last weekend and we were thankful for the shade provided by the masses of trees all around the resort.

We are not well traveled as far as Naturist resorts go but, without doubt, the staff and guests at Lupin are the friendliest that we have ever had the pleasure to meet. At the pool, tubs and at the Volley Ball court everyone was exceptionally friendly and there was a happy family atmosphere. Many had traveled a long way to be there as the car park was full of out of state plates from as far way as Virginia and New Jersey.

The crowd was mixed with families and both single males and females. There were many children of all ages and teenagers along with parents, grand-parents and other family members happily intermingling. The demographics on that day appeared to be more of a professional nature than we have experienced at, say Harbin. This is probably due to the proximity to Silicon Valley - But, when naked, who cares if you drive a Beemer or a Beater?

We will definitely be visiting there again - soon!
