Club Paradise, Florida

March 1999

I just returned from a stay at Paradise Lakes.

The place is singles friendly if you consider only their admission policy. There were a number of single males and probably four or five single females around while I was there (out of several hundred people). The single females were French and would not engage in conversation with very many people, I guess because they did not speak much English. It was interesting trying to communicate with them.

Although the physical plant represents a great investment in money, it is far too cramped. If you have their video you would think it is quite spread out. Not so. The pools, hot tubs, and deck area are very confined, about 175 to 200 feet square. This leads to a very crowded environment at least on the weekends. If you leave your chair for any reason you will find it taken on returning. You have to go through the admission desk/office to enter the pool area and they do this to make sure you have a grounds pass and are not trying to enter with any of your own beverages or food. Their prices for these items are very high.

Some of the people were friendly but I got a definite impression the swingers have taken over. One attempt at a conversation initiated by me went like this: I approached one of the heated jet pools and spoke to a couple in their 40's, about the same age as I am. When I introduced myself, they replied with their names and asked where my companion was. When I replied that I was a widower and there by myself, they said they were only interested in couples and turned away from me. To say the least, I was astounded by this reply. I was merely trying to engage in polite conversation and could not believe their assuming that I was there to swing. Ray Charles could have seen the atmosphere was thick with this lifestyle.

All in all, I was unimpressed with the place, given the false appearance created by their video and brochures. You go expecting to find a large facility and instead find a very crowded and cramped grounds. The swingers rule the roost so to speak and I believe a couple would definitely be approached.

Needless to say, I will not be going back. I will choose to spend what little time I have to enjoy nudism at a more relaxed, congenial, affordable and spacious club. I suppose the reputation of Paradise Lakes makes a lot of nudists wish to go there but to me the reality does not meet up with its advertising.

If any members would like to talk more on this subject, please e-mail me. I would be happy to exchange viewpoints on Paradise Lakes with anybody interested.
